New safety campaign targets road traffic accidents on A9

A new road safety campaign highlighting the dangers of using mobile phones whilst driving will be targeted at drivers on Scotland’s longest trunk road next month.

Drivers being distracted by their mobile phones has been a “significant factor” in road traffic accidents on the A9, a spokesperson for Police Scotland has said.

Stuart Wilson, chairman of the A9 Safety Group, said:

“Evidence from Police Scotland’s crash investigators highlights a concerning trend of distraction being a significant factor as the cause of accidents on the route and the campaign is designed to raise awareness of this issue.”
