Just a quick ‘heads up’ to say that these unsolicited cold calls are still being made. Just to prove the point, I was on the receiving end last week, during the height of the cold, wintry weather.
The caller asked me about how I was feeling after my road traffic accident. Let’s say that things went downhill rapidly thereafter.
Needless to say I hadn’t been in an accident. Nevertheless, this key fact wasn’t enough to stop this lady from further questions. So despite no accident, no injury and no interest from me, she kept on going. She stuck to the script and probed for any semblance of recognition from me that I might have been in accident somewhere, sometime.
When I mentioned that I worked for a personal injury law firm and that I sensed an attempt to create a claim out of nothing, she hung up.
The moral of the story? Beware cold calls from claims companies…especially if you have been in an accident.
